The Kremlin is no longer willing to negotiate with Ukraine based on the Istanbul agreements
11.04.2024 - 11:49As a result of a Russian mass missile attack on the night of April 11, the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant in the Kiev region was completely destroyed.
This was reported by the “Interfax-Ukraine” agency.
“All the workers who were on duty during the shelling are alive,” said Andriy Gota, chairman of the supervisory board of the company “Centrenergo”, to the agency.
According to the company, the hits resulted in a massive fire in the turbine workshop. Currently, work is underway at the facility to contain the fire.
Located in the city of Ukrainka, the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant was commissioned in 1973 and became the most powerful power plant in the Kiev region. It was also the largest supplier of electricity to the Kiev, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions.
Since the Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant in the Kharkiv region was completely destroyed on March 22, and on July 25, 2022, Russian troops occupied the Uglegorsk Thermal Power Plant in the Donetsk region, “Centrenergo” has currently lost 100% of its generation capacity.
After the complete destruction of the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant, people on the network recall the statement from “Centrenergo” in August 2023 that the facility was “100% physically protected”.
At that time, it was also reported that work at the Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant was 70% complete. This facility was also destroyed by shelling in March of this year.
It is worth noting that during the summer, there was talk of “physical protection of critically important elements of thermal power plant facilities from falling rocket fragments, indirect attacks of drones, and other damages.” And today, there was clearly a direct missile strike on the facility.
