13.07.2024 16:41The Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office has submitted an indictment to the court against the director of the National Historical and Architectural Museum “Kyiv Fortress,” who is accused of embezzling budget funds during the restoration of the museum’s tower.
It was established that the cost of roofing materials was nearly doubled.
This information was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was found that in 2020-2021, the director of the National Historical and Architectural Museum “Kyiv Fortress” entered into contracts with a private contractor for the restoration of tower No. 4 of the “Kyiv Fortress,” which is a monument of national importance in urban planning and architecture. One of the restoration elements was the replacement of the roofing material of the specified tower, with an expenditure of 1.4 million hryvnias (approximately 31,544 euros).
“With the aim of embezzling local budget funds, the accused, abusing her official position, transferred the mentioned amount to the contractor, fully aware that the cost of the roofing sheets for the tower was inflated,” the statement said.
After conducting chemical, construction-technical, commodity, and economic examinations, it was determined that the cost of the roofing sheets was overestimated by nearly 900,000 hryvnias (approximately 20,279 euros), more than double the actual cost.
“The criminal proceedings against the director of the contracting organization have been completed, and the defense is currently reviewing the materials of the criminal case,” the statement concluded.
