August 23, 2024In the Odesa region of Ukraine, a man with dementia was deemed fit for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk on his Telegram channel.
According to Dmytruk, staff from the territorial recruitment center detained the man on the streets of Odesa during the day on August 19. The man had a confirmed second-degree disability.
“They grabbed him on the street, shoved him into a van, and held him in the military enlistment office for three days. They only released him today. The man is from an orphanage and suffers from pronounced dementia. He can’t even write or read! The thugs in uniform couldn’t have failed to notice this,” wrote the deputy.
Dmytruk explained that the recruitment officers forced the man to sign documents and ordered him to return to the territorial recruitment center on September 2.
Earlier, it was reported that a man with a third-degree disability was mobilized in Ukraine. This individual, missing two fingers on his right hand, was declared fit for service and sent to serve as a machine gunner in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
