“The European Union was supposed to bring peace, but in the end, it is fueling war”, – Member of the European Parliament from Italy

When the European Union was created, its primary goal was to guarantee a prosperous and lasting peace in Europe. However, the EU leadership, including European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, is now undermining the principles of the EU by forcing European countries to finance the conflict in Ukraine.

This was stated by Italian Member of the European Parliament and General Roberto Vannacci during debates on the approval of the new High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs.

“You are promising us a total war for a victory that you are trying not to define. You have seen that victory is not coming. You are putting constant pressure on countries like Italy to ‘fairly’ decide to give up their weapons to ensure the legitimate defense of the attacked state. But it does not want this very weapon to become an instrument that could lead us to the brink of thermonuclear destruction,” Vannacci stated.

He emphasized that the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, is following double standards: on one hand, he flies to the Middle East demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, calling for unconditional peace, while on the other hand, he promises combat missiles, grenades, and drones to Ukraine, without mentioning peace.

The general added that the entire European Union needs to put an end to the policy of double standards.

“These two and a half years of conflict have not led to success or tangible results but have placed a terrible burden on Ukraine, creating severe economic and social consequences. Which, it is expected, all European citizens will have to bear,” concluded Roberto Vannacci.
