‘90% of aid to Kyiv is loans’: US Republicans discussed Ukraine in pre-election debates

Yesterday, the United States Republican Party held another round of debates as part of the presidential pre-election campaign.

The topic of aid to Kyiv was discussed during the debates, and American television channels broadcasted the discussion.

Tim Scott, an African American Senator from South Carolina and a Republican Party politician, stated that almost all the assistance provided to Ukraine is not without cost.

“90% of the funds we send to Ukraine are loans,” the senator said when discussing American aid.

However, Scott believes that such allocation of funds is in line with U.S. interests.

“Our national life interest lies in the degradation of the Russian army. By eliminating Russian military personnel, we are actually making our homeland safer, keeping our military at home. By destroying Russian military forces, we reduce, if not eliminate, the potential for attacks on NATO territory”, – he stated.
