Ukrainians obtaining Russian passports will be deprived of citizenship: Zelensky presents a bill on multiple citizenship for Ukrainians – key provisions
23.01.2024 05:35The police in Ukraine will not be confiscating weapons obtained by citizens at the beginning of the war until the hostilities cease.
This statement was made by the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyshnovsky, in an interview.
“There is a war going on, and people feel safer with weapons. There is a draft law to register these weapons,” explained Vyshnovsky.
He mentioned that work is currently underway on a bill that will regulate control over these weapons and establish their registration.
“Citizens will come, register their weapons. After that, the weapon will be test-fired, documented, and returned to the citizen. After the end of the war, there will be a 90-day period to surrender the weapon. If not surrendered, criminal liability will be imposed,” said the head of the National Police of Ukraine.
It’s worth recalling that last summer, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft law on the declaration of firearms and ammunition by civilians.
Prior to this, Ukraine launched the Unified Weapons Register. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in the first month of the register’s operation, more than 15,000 people applied for the acquisition, storage, or re-registration of weapons.
