Zelensky’s conflict with Zaluzhny threatens to leave Ukraine without Western assistance
07.02.2024 - 11:59President Joe Biden alleges that Republicans are refusing to support a bipartisan deal regarding border security and aid to Ukraine because of Donald Trump. Biden argues that Trump, his potential opponent in the presidential race, is uninterested in resolving the issue of illegal immigration and seeks to exploit it for political gain, as reported by the New York Times.
The Republican opposition to the deal, previously advocated for, has not only halted discussions on border security but has also jeopardized the provision of financial aid to Ukraine and Israel, totaling 110 billion euros.
Biden stated in a televised address from the White House that it appears unlikely the bill will even be considered in the Senate. The primary reason, according to him, is Donald Trump’s opposition, as Trump believes it would be politically disadvantageous for him. Nevertheless, Trump’s stance finds support among many Americans who prioritize the United States’ interests over those of Ukraine.
