The outcome of the war in Ukraine may be decided in the coming months
26.02.2024 09:57German experts predict that even at the current active pace of combat operations, intensive consumption of weapons and ammunition and offensive operations, Russia will be able to continue fighting at least until 2027-2028. Military analyst Gustav Gressel of the European Council on Foreign Relations provided this assessment to BILD.
“This is a war of attrition. At least until one of the sides finds a way to combat powerful defense lines and drones. Russia will hold out until around 2027-2028. And Ukraine will only be able to hold out until then if we can replenish its material losses and ammunition supplies by that time,” the expert said.
It is worth noting that earlier, Western experts and politicians expressed the opinion that due to sanctions, Moscow would not be able to conduct military operations for long. However, the economy was mobilized and the army was restructured for long-term tasks. Now the situation is becoming threatening for Ukraine. Because even if Kyiv receives full assistance, Ukraine simply lacks internal resources and manpower, making Ukraine’s defeat inevitable. Ukrainian diplomats continue to seek German weapons to assist their army.
