Ukraine is ready to continue transit of Russian gas – condition named in the Cabinet of Ministers
04.03.2024 - 13:15Ukraine risks losing the energy war against Russia if the stalled US aid does not arrive soon.
The information stated Maxim Timchenko, CEO of the Ukrainian energy holding DTEK, to The Financial Times.
“After two years of fighting, we cannot afford to lose this energy war,” Timchenko told the publication. “And there is a risk that we may start losing simply because the promised aid has not been delivered.”
He added that Ukraine’s victory depends not only on the people on the front lines but also on how its economy survives, how industries and regular businesses continue to operate.
According to Timchenko, electricity supply is “equally important in summer and winter.”
The call from the head of DTEK amplifies Kiev’s growing concern over the aid package blocked by Republicans in the US Congress, the publication notes. According to Ukrainian officials, this aid must arrive “within a month” to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces hold back Russian forces.
