Poland promises challenging negotiations with Ukraine on trade liberalization with the European Union

Polish authorities promise tough negotiations with Ukraine, which seeks trade liberalization with the European Union.

The Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Cheslav Sekerski, announced that a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Mykola Solskyi, will take place tomorrow, involving representatives of agricultural associations.

“Tomorrow, a government delegation from Ukraine is coming because on Thursday in Warsaw, there will be a joint session of the governments of Ukraine and Poland. Tomorrow, we are going to have an unusual format. In addition to the ministers of agriculture of Ukraine and Poland, deputy ministers, advisors, there will also be representatives of associations of producers of various crops. We want this dialogue to be brought down to the level of producers,” Sekerski said.

At the same time, he added that the negotiations will be “difficult” because Ukraine believes that trade liberalization with the European Union should be maintained.

Earlier, it was reported that the new government of Poland would maintain the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain despite threats of fines from the European Union.

It is known that the agricultural lobby of the European Union is discussing a return to quotas and tariffs on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into Europe.
