The UK Defence Minister believes that the world has entered a pre-war period

The world has transitioned from a post-war to a pre-war period.

This is the belief of British Defense Minister Grant Shapps.

In a column for The Telegraph, Shapps writes that democracy has come under the crosshairs of “malicious forces” that are uniting.

“Russia threatens our neighbors. China is becoming increasingly aggressive. Iran is using its proxies to sow regional chaos from the Middle East to the Yemeni strait. And North Korea constantly brandishes its nuclear saber,” the minister writes.

Therefore, Shapps calls for urgent consideration of NATO’s future and proposes three actions:

1. Double efforts to support Ukraine;
2. Increase spending on NATO and one’s own defense;
3. Strengthen the Euro-Atlantic defense sector.

It is worth noting that recently, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk stated that Europe is entering a “pre-war era.”
