The Speaker of the House discussed with the White House a package of aid to Ukraine, but no agreement has been reached – media reports

House Speaker Mike Johnson discussed a new aid package for Ukraine and Israel with the White House, but “no agreement was reached.”

This was reported by the Associated Press.

Now, Johnson is preparing to discuss aid to Ukraine with Donald Trump, said House Republican leader Steve Scalise.

According to him, the new bill will differ from the one passed by the Senate and will include several Republican demands. It shifts part of the funding for Kyiv to a credit basis and opens the way for the United States to use frozen assets of the Russian central bank.

Johnson also insists that the Biden administration lift the ban on permits for liquefied natural gas exports. Sometimes, he also demands changes in policy regarding the border with Mexico.

“No agreement was reached. Obviously, an agreement will be needed, not only with the White House but also with our own members,” Scalise said.

Today, Johnson is scheduled to meet with Trump in Florida to discuss aid to Ukraine.
