There are discussions in Ukraine about raising electricity tariffs

In Ukraine, there may be an increase in electricity tariffs for the population, as authorities have begun discussions on the matter.

This was announced by the Acting CEO of “Ukrainian Distribution Networks,” Artem Martyniuk.

Ukraine needs over a billion dollars to prepare for the upcoming autumn-winter period.

“There are certain discussions at the moment, it will be decided at the level of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities. In my opinion, we may still face tariff increases. Currently, our internal sources are insufficient, and we rely on assistance from neighboring countries and donors,” Martyniuk stated.

It’s worth noting that the National Bank of Ukraine predicts a sharp increase in electricity tariffs. This is outlined in the latest inflation report from the National Bank of Ukraine. The energy commission notes that the tariff increase is necessary due to significant damage to the Ukrainian energy sector caused by Russian attacks.
