28.06.2024 - 11:40The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is considering raising tariffs on gas and heating this fall. Electricity prices may also increase to 7 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour.
This was stated by Oleg Popenko, the head of the Union of Utility Consumers.
According to him, there are currently not enough votes to pass the measure.
“As far as I know, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is seriously considering the possibility of raising the tariff for gas, gas distribution and heating this fall. There are not yet enough votes to pass this, but work is ongoing,” Popenko said.
He also mentioned that there is discussion about raising electricity prices to 7 hryvnias.
It is worth noting that electricity prices were increased by 64% to 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour starting June 1.
Additionally, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, has already stated that after the increase in electricity prices, heating could be the next utility service to become more expensive in Ukraine.
