Preparing for war from childhood: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is allocating almost 37 million euros for the new school course ‘Defense of Ukraine’
24.07.2024 - 13:29In Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a scheme involving the illegal discharge of military personnel through the use of fake documents for caring for relatives was uncovered. Soldiers paid 80,000 hryvnias (almost 1,800 euros) for the service.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI).
Employees of the SBI, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), suspect a former military officer and an employee of the municipal enterprise “Primary Health Care Center No. 3” of the Kamianske City Council of participating in the scheme. They forged documents to facilitate the discharge of military personnel from service.
For 80,000 hryvnias (almost 1,800 euros), the schemers issued falsified certificates to soldiers, claiming that their close relatives had disabilities and required supervision. This serves as grounds for discharge from military service.

At least 18 mobilized individuals used the services, 12 of whom had already been discharged from service. They also received the legally provided discharge payments totaling approximately 500,000 hryvnias (11,168 euros). Another six military personnel had submitted fake documents and were awaiting discharge.
During searches at the residences of the suspects, law enforcement officers found about 150 fake certificates and seized more than 30 forged seals from various medical institutions.
Earning money through evasion of service is a lucrative business in Ukraine.
Previously, in Zakarpattia, Viktor Saienkov, a deputy of the Berehove City Council from Petro Poroshenko’s “European Solidarity” party, was detained for illegally transporting an evader across the border. He charged 14,000 dollars for the service.
