Cyberpolice warned Ukrainians about a new fraud scheme

Cases of fraudulent schemes to extort personal funds through the internet continue to occur in Ukraine.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Cyber Police.

According to their data, scammers are sending messages with offers of easy online work. The scheme involves buying and selling goods on another website under the pretense of popularizing the product.

How the scammers operate:

• Initially, they pay small amounts to potential victims to build trust.
• Then, they ask the victims to register on a fraudulent website where they need to top up their account for purchases.
• To withdraw the earned money, they demand further money transfers.

The Cyber Police warns citizens not to trust suspicious online job offers, avoid clicking on unknown links, refrain from entering payment details, and to stop communication with scammers and block their numbers.

It should be noted that, according to law enforcement, Ukrainian accounts are being targeted twice as often now.

As we reported earlier, the number of fraud cases in the banking system has increased by 25% in Ukraine.
