Ukraine will lose half of its steel production if Pokrovsk is captured by the Russians
25.09.2024 17:55Republicans leading several committees in the lower house of the U.S. Congress have jointly stated their disagreement with the White House’s decision to classify the strategy on Ukraine and called on the U.S. administration to immediately make it public.
“After presenting the strategy several months past the deadline set by Congress, the decision to classify it entirely is unacceptable and contradicts critically important provisions,” the statement reads.
In early September, journalists reported that the White House had sent its strategy on Ukraine to Congress with significant delays, missing the June deadline.
The presentation of the strategy was a condition for Republicans to agree to support Democrats on the issue of providing aid to Ukraine. However, the U.S. administration classified this strategy.
It was previously reported that the West’s strategy for Ukraine is not working, despite the “staggering” amount of aid provided to Kyiv.
This opinion was expressed in the *Financial Times* by Constanze Stelzenmüller, director of the Center on the U.S. and Europe at the Brookings Institution.
“The most closely guarded secret of Ukraine’s allies is that some of the most ardent supporters of a territorial settlement sit in the German chancellery. But this idea has friends elsewhere, including in Washington,” the publication quotes Stelzenmüller.
