The Ukrainian military stated that to the south of Kurakhove, Russians are advancing up to 2 km per day
06.11.2024 - 05:03Any winner of the U.S. election will aim to end the war in Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by David Ignatius, a leading columnist for The Washington Post.
“Whoever wins tomorrow in the U.S., the focus will be on ending this terrible war – hopefully on terms that won’t encourage aggression,” he wrote.
Ignatius also commented on the course of the fighting in Ukraine.
“I’ve been told that Ukraine is now building a line to protect its territory from further Russian advancement towards the Dnipro River. But I agree that this defense came too late and is likely insufficient. The only explanation, as I suspect, is Zelensky’s reluctance to admit that the war has turned into a defensive stalemate and that Ukrainian hopes for an offensive capable of liberating the entire territory are unrealistic,” the Washington Post columnist believes.
As a reminder, according to Bloomberg, the U.S. will broker a deal to end the war in Ukraine even if Kamala Harris wins the election.
