06.11.2024 - 19:07Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is calling for a change in the European Union’s strategy on Ukraine due to Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections.
This was reported by the German publication Deutsche Welle.
Speaking at the Turkic States Organization summit in Bishkek, the Hungarian Prime Minister suggested that after Trump returns to the White House, American aid to Kyiv might be suspended.
In this context, there are “serious doubts” that Europe alone can take on the financial and military support of Ukraine, necessitating a new EU strategy, emphasized Viktor Orban.
The Hungarian Prime Minister was among the first to congratulate Trump on his election victory, calling it “brilliant” and offering “hope for peace around the world.” An informal EU summit will be held in Budapest on November 8, with one of the main topics being Trump’s victory in the U.S. and its possible implications.
Meanwhile, experts indicate that Trump’s victory has significantly boosted Orban’s political influence. Overnight, he has transformed from “Europe’s rebellious child” into a “valuable mediator and closest European confidant” of Trump.
