Rising energy prices: Europe is facing the coldest winter since the start of the war in Ukraine – Bloomberg
27.11.2024 - 10:07From April to August of this year, 23.4 thousand men over the age of 30 were expelled from Ukrainian universities.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vinnytskyi on his Facebook page.
The official believes that these men did not intend to study but rather sought to use their student status to evade mobilization.
“The reasons for expulsion include poor academic performance, absenteeism, and other factors. It is clear that those expelled were not actually planning to be students, but were trying to use this status to avoid other responsibilities,” Vinnytskyi wrote.
Criminal cases have been opened against many officials at higher education institutions, and several universities have had their licenses for educational activities revoked.
Earlier, Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi reported that about 200,000 Ukrainian men enroll in universities to delay mobilization. This conclusion was drawn based on the increasing number of men over 25 who decided to pursue education after the war began, as well as after targeted checks.
Earlier, we reported that in Kyiv, a university vice-rector promised admission to graduate school in exchange for a bribe, enabling a man to avoid military service. Telegram channels indicated that this involved the vice-rector of the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management.
