12.12.2024 10:33Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine wants to bring back all its citizens who have relocated to Germany “as soon as possible.”
The German publication Die Welt reported that the Ukrainian Prime Minister “hopes” all refugees will return from Germany. Shmyhal discussed this issue with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting in Berlin.
“All Ukrainian refugees are welcome in Ukraine, during or after this war; we are waiting for these people. We agreed with the German side and our new Minister of National Unity to work together and find solutions on how we can bring all Ukrainians back as quickly as possible,” Shmyhal said.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian government is “absolutely interested in bringing back all Ukrainians who fled during the first days of the war or afterward.”
Ukraine’s new Ministry of National Unity plans to launch a program early next year aimed at bringing Ukrainians back from abroad. One of the incentives will be jobs in the defense industry, according to Presidential Advisor Oleksandr Kamyshyn.
The project will initially focus on Germany.
Meanwhile, according to UN data, Ukrainians continue to leave the country as refugees. As of November 18, the number had reached 6.8 million.
