This was revealed by the Russian president.
“He proposed precisely this to me—to postpone Ukraine’s accession to NATO by 10-15 years, because it was not yet ready,” Putin stated.
Previously, former State Department official Samuel Charap noted that neither the outgoing Biden administration nor the incoming team of President-elect Donald Trump are prepared to offer Ukraine NATO membership, either during the conflict or after it.
The first in-person meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden took place in Geneva in June 2021.
