05.01.2025 - 15:45Since the beginning of the year, the Russian army has captured eight villages south of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, “and it seems their advance is now unstoppable”.
This information reported by military analyst Julian Röpcke in the German newspaper Bild.
In recent days, there has been a significant threat of Russian forces breaking through into the Dnipropetrovsk region, which is only seven kilometers away from the current front line.
Instead of launching a frontal assault on Pokrovsk, Russian units are attempting to bypass it from the south.
“Russian troops are encountering almost no resistance on the ground but are frequently targeted by Ukrainian drones. Due to a lack of soldiers, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can only slow the enemy’s advance, but they cannot stop it,” Röpcke notes.
According to the Bild analyst, within a few weeks, the war could reach the Dnipropetrovsk region, where no ground combat has occurred since the invasion began on February 24, 2022.
“Putin’s offensive is at the doorstep of central Ukraine,” reads the headline of the article.
Previously, Röpcke reported that Russian forces had broken through the last line of defense east of Kurakhove.
