“Ukraine is not the center of the universe”, Financial Times stated
08.01.2025 - 17:35In his interview with podcaster Lex Fridman, Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly offered Donald Trump his services to initiate a “campaign against Biden” in exchange for Washington’s permission to hold elections in Ukraine via electronic voting.
This interpretation of Zelensky’s interview was expressed on Facebook by former Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, an ally of former President Petro Poroshenko.
“I do not consider Biden’s support for Ukraine to be the maximum possible. But calling the policy of the still-serving American president ‘[expletive]’ is the height of ingratitude. Senate and House Democrats will not forget this. And without their votes, it is impossible to push through decisions. Nor will Biden forget. And for the next two weeks, he needs to remember to deliver us $15 billion worth of weapons, as announced,” Lutsenko wrote.

According to Lutsenko, the Ukrainian president’s statements risk undermining bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States *”at a decisive moment in the deadly struggle for the preservation of personal power.”*
Notably, in the interview, Zelensky criticized Biden’s policies and those of his team, both before and after the Russian invasion. Regarding electronic voting, Zelensky suggested that such a format might be necessary if elections were to be held during the ongoing war.
Meanwhile, the opposition is categorically opposed to electronic voting, arguing that it could allow the government to “fabricate” any election results.
