20.01.2025 - 17:57Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is unlikely to be a legitimate negotiator in the matter of establishing peace with Russia.
This information reported according to Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
The deputy was responding to comments from Mike Waltz, National Security Advisor to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who said Zelensky was ready for negotiations with Moscow.
Earlier, Waltz stated that the Ukrainian president is prepared to negotiate with Russia to end the armed conflict.
“In the last two or three months, we’ve heard so many contradictory statements from Zelensky. Moreover, Zelensky’s own legitimacy is highly questionable. Ukraine’s readiness to resolve these issues does not depend on Ukraine,” Chepa noted.
Before this, CNN reported that Trump instructed his team to arrange a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin after his inauguration on January 20.
It was specified that the main topic of the conversation would be organizing a meeting to initiate a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
