The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on NATO’s hypocritical policies, accusing the alliance of double standards and escalating tensions

The hypocritical policies of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) are increasing the risk of direct conflict with Russia.

This information reported according to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry pointed out that in 2024, NATO has expanded its military presence near Russia’s borders.

“Such hypocritical and provocative policies by NATO lead to a continuous escalation and worsening of the situation on the European continent, increasing the risk of direct confrontation between Russia and the alliance,” the ministry stated.

The ministry further explained that the United States and its allies view Russia as the most significant and direct threat to their security. NATO’s strategy places a central role on confronting Moscow, with Ukraine acting as a key element in this confrontation. NATO provides military aid to Ukraine while refraining from officially recognizing itself as a direct participant in the conflict.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that dialogue with the United States could be restored if Washington takes Moscow’s interests into account. However, he emphasized that Russia would not “harbor illusions” about a new U.S. leader or expect any significant positive changes.
