In Bulgaria, a Ukrainian woman is suspected of murdering her two children, aged 5 and 11.

The boy and the girl, both with multiple stab wounds, were found in their beds by their father in the village of Vakarel, where they were renting a house.

Afterward, the mother attempted to take her own life but was detained by law enforcement. She faces a life sentence.

The woman claimed that she has mental health issues and is undergoing a psychiatric examination.

The family had arrived in the village three days before the murders, according to the head of the family.

The investigation is being led by the Sofia district prosecutor’s office. A criminal psychologist has been involved in the case. According to journalists, the investigation has undisputed evidence linking the mother to the crime.
