“Two great countries cannot avoid communication with each other”: U.S.-Russia talks concluded in Riyadh
18.02.2025 - 13:11Donald Trump proposes the following scenario for Ukraine: first, a ceasefire, then elections, and only in the third stage—the signing of a final peace agreement with a new president.
This was reported by German Member of the European Parliament Sergey Lagodinsky, citing sources.
“According to my sources, Trump’s proposal consists of three stages:
- Ceasefire
- Elections in Ukraine
- Signing of the final agreement.
This fully fulfills all of Putin’s wishes. Especially regarding the elections—this is a gift from Trump to Putin. Putin hates Zelensky,” the MEP wrote.
He added that Europeans want elections only after a peace agreement is signed.
Previously, Western media, including Reuters, described this exact sequence as the likely way to end the war. This was also mentioned in Trump’s previously reported, though unofficially confirmed, “peace plan,” which suggested that a ceasefire could be in place by Easter, with the electoral process starting in August.
Meanwhile, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko recently stated that the next presidential election in Ukraine is scheduled for October 26, 2025.
