27.02.2025 - 16:31U.S. President Donald Trump initially wanted to cancel the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, which was scheduled for tomorrow. However, French President Emmanuel Macron persuaded him to change his mind.
This was reported by BFMTV, citing sources.
According to the channel, the Ukrainian president received a message from the White House on Wednesday advising him not to travel to the U.S. for a meeting with Trump. However, Zelensky called Macron, who then reached out to Trump and personally requested that the meeting take place under his own guarantee. Trump agreed and later announced that the meeting would proceed as planned.
It is worth noting that Zelensky stated yesterday afternoon that his visit to the U.S. was still being arranged. However, during his evening address, he confirmed that it would indeed happen. Today, the Ukrainian president departed for the U.S. from Poland. According to media reports citing sources, on his way to meet Trump, he made a stop in Ireland.
