The U.S. and Ukraine are preparing to sign a subsurface resources agreement: Trump wants to announce the deal in Congress – Reuters
04.03.2025 - 23:51Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a statement expressing “regret” over his recent confrontation with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. However, as of now, there has been no official response from Trump.
Among American political figures, the only comment came from entrepreneur Elon Musk, who remarked that “words are not enough; actions matter.”
At the same time, rumors have emerged about a possible agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine in the field of resource extraction, which could indicate a partial warming of relations between Kyiv and Washington. However, there is no official confirmation of this information yet.
How exactly Trump will respond to Zelensky’s statement remains an open question. On one hand, the Ukrainian president did not issue a formal apology, despite reports that the White House expected one. On the other hand, his wording included elements of respect for Trump, such as acknowledging his “strong leadership” in conflict resolution.
Earlier, Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron proposed a temporary moratorium on airstrikes against infrastructure, but this plan received mixed reactions. Some experts believe it could complicate negotiations rather than help end the war.
It remains unclear whether Trump will be open to considering Zelensky and Macron’s proposals or if he will continue insisting on his preferred solution—a complete cessation of hostilities. Additionally, there is no information yet on whether the White House considers Zelensky’s statement sufficient to improve relations.
