“The U.S. doesn’t need friends”: a Fox News journalist explained to Americans why it’s useful to bomb allies
04.04.2025 05:03Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has released wiretap recordings capturing conversations between businessmen suspected of large-scale fraud involving food supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the audio materials published by NABU, participants in the scheme discussed methods of food falsification. Specifically, they talked about replacing beef in offal products with cheaper pork and animal fat. These actions allowed them to inflate supply costs and illegally profit at the state’s expense.
Previously, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) reported that massive embezzlement took place within the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense during 2022–2023, particularly in the procurement of food for the military. According to investigators, the damages to the state could total hundreds of millions of hryvnias.
The released recordings are part of one episode in a broader criminal case. The investigation is ongoing to identify all participants in the corrupt scheme, including possible Ministry of Defense officials involved in organizing these fraudulent supplies.
