“Europe will not be able to replace U.S. aid in either the short or medium term”, – Yermak
10.04.2025 - 14:49Mobilization has become a popular method for corruption suspects to avoid criminal liability.
This information reported according to a statement from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
The statement came in response to the recent failed attempt by former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, to enlist in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the final stage of his high-profile bribery case.
“Currently, 48 individuals have voluntarily enlisted in the military after their indictments were submitted to court. As a result, court proceedings have been suspended, and the statute of limitations is running out, increasing the likelihood of evading punishment,” SAPO noted.
It’s important to note that Ukrainian law allows individuals with ongoing court cases to join the military. Once mobilized, legal proceedings are put on hold for the duration of their service.
Meanwhile, the AFU has officially canceled the enlistment order for Nasirov, who remains a defendant in an ongoing criminal case.
