Ukraine could become a bargaining chip in a deal between Russia and the U.S. – Le Figaro
14.04.2025 - 06:39Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky, currently being held in pre-trial detention on suspicion of state treason, has claimed that President Volodymyr Zelensky is preparing to propose an alternative Ukraine plan to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Dubinsky made this statement on his Telegram channel.
He revealed what he alleges to be Zelensky’s intentions regarding Russia, asserting that the Ukrainian president aims to prolong the conflict.
“With the help of France and the UK, Zelensky is proposing to Trump that the war be continued — essentially creating a parallel project to a peace plan. He’s offering it to the U.S. as an option in case their talks with Russia don’t succeed,” Dubinsky said.
Previously, EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas admitted that the recent meeting of the “coalition of the willing” on Ukraine had failed to produce results. She acknowledged that the participating states hold differing views on how to resolve the conflict, which has so far hindered the negotiations.
