Ukraine wants to discuss a ceasefire and a meeting between Zelensky and Putin with Russia today – Reuters
16.05.2025 10:49On the eve of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s arrival in Turkey and the expected negotiations with Russia, there was reported “panic” and “nervousness” inside the Ukrainian President’s Office.
This information reported according to Der Spiegel, citing an advisor from Zelensky’s team.
“Panic is mounting because no one knows what’s happening,” the source said on Tuesday.
The publication also notes that neither Zelensky nor European leaders are clear on U.S. President Donald Trump’s position on the peace process. Trump is described as “the engine that makes everything move forward—and the biggest factor of uncertainty.”
According to Der Spiegel, Zelensky is forced to “constantly prove to the U.S. president his willingness to cooperate.” The aim, the article suggests, is to “shift the blame to the opposing side” in case diplomacy, as encouraged by Trump, fails.
