The White House recommended that the State Department shut down programs investigating war crimes in Ukraine
26.06.2025 - 20:59The United States has reduced funding for Ukraine under the Coalition Support Fund and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative in the 2026 fiscal year.
This was announced during a briefing by a senior Pentagon official.
“Specifically, two funds have been cut: the Coalition Support Fund and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative,” the U.S. Department of Defense stated.
The department also noted that they will be forced to reduce purchases of fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets in 2026—from 74 to 47 aircraft—due to slow production rates.
As previously reported, in mid-June the U.S. House of Representatives rejected an amendment to the defense budget bill that would have allocated an additional $300 million to Ukraine. Prior to the vote, House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole warned that increasing funding for Ukraine could jeopardize the passage of the overall defense budget.
Shortly before that, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance called the funding of Ukraine under President Joe Biden “madness.”
