29.06.2025 - 19:06Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that he does not intend to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
His remarks came during an interview with the media company STVR, as reported by political Telegram channels.
“It is very important to maintain communication at the government level, but a meeting with President Zelensky makes no sense, as he hates me for expressing my own opinion about the war in Ukraine. I accused him of robbing Slovakia of €500 million when he halted the transit of Russian gas,” said Fico.
According to the Slovak prime minister, it is more reasonable for him to negotiate with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. Fico added that a joint cabinet meeting between the two governments is scheduled for this fall.
As a reminder, Fico has previously stated that Ukraine’s resource deal with the United States diminished the chances for peace, claiming that “Zelensky bought the war.”
“Mr. Zelensky is very interested in continuing the war. And he believes that with this agreement, he has muted the U.S. efforts toward peace,” Fico asserted.
