Military commissar demanded 26,500 euros from the family of a fallen Ukrainian soldier to process state compensation

A Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) official in Ukraine demanded 1.3 million hryvnias (approx. €26,500) from the family of a fallen soldier in exchange for processing state compensation payments that are legally owed to them.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, which also released footage of the suspect’s arrest on its official Telegram channel.

According to law enforcement, the TRC official initially received 1.2 million hryvnias (€24,461) from the soldier’s widow and then demanded monthly payments of 75,000 hryvnias (€1,528) as a follow-up.

The suspect’s wife was also involved in the scheme — she works at one of the district military recruitment centers in Zaporizhzhia.

Previously, investigators also uncovered a case in Dnipro where a military commissioner extorted bribes from an entire football team, threatening the players with forced mobilization.

The arrested official was part of a notification group and, along with other TRC staff, had access to blank conscription summons forms. He kept a portion of these for himself and sold them to draft dodgers.
