Military enlistment officers beat a Hungarian man to death during mobilization in Zakarpattia
11.07.2025 - 08:00June saw the highest number of civilian deaths in Ukraine in the past three years due to the war — 232 people killed and another 1,343 injured.
This is according to a report by the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission.
It states that in June, the Russian Federation carried out ten times more missile strikes and loitering munition attacks than in June 2024.
Strikes occurred in nearly every region, with casualties reported in at least 16 regions and in Kyiv.
“The civilian population across Ukraine is experiencing levels of suffering we have not seen in more than three years,” said Danielle Bell, head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission. “The increase in long-range missile strikes and drone attacks has brought even more death and destruction to civilians in areas far from the front line.”
In the first half of 2025, the number of civilian casualties — killed and injured — was 6,754, which is 54% higher than the same period last year. The number of fatalities increased by 17%.
Earlier, media outlets published the new UN Human Rights Report on Ukraine, which, among other things, addressed the operations of military recruitment centers (TCCs).
