Defense Minister Shmyhal admitted that Ukraine cannot pay its soldiers as much as Russia does
31.07.2025 - 05:36The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is investigating a new episode involving former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov, related to how he appointed security and domestic staff while serving as head of Naftogaz.
This was reported by the publication ZN citing anonymous sources.
According to the report, the positions created for Chernyshov’s personal staff in the state-owned company included salaries of at least 300,000 hryvnias per month (approximately €6,230) and exemptions from military mobilization.
This episode of employment practices at Naftogaz was mentioned in the court ruling that authorized searches at Chernyshov’s properties in June. However, due to recent limitations placed on NABU’s authority, the investigation is currently suspended.
It’s worth noting that Chernyshov is already under investigation in another case involving an alleged bribe from a real estate developer. According to investigators, while serving as Minister of Communities and Territorial Development, he helped a Kyiv developer obtain a land plot for a residential project. Chernyshov denies all charges.
