“The loss of Pokrovsk is a matter of time”: British journalists report on the situation in Dobropillia and Pavlohrad

The fall of the city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region is only a matter of time.

This is according to a report by The Daily Telegraph, based on dispatches from Dobropillia and Pavlohrad.

The newspaper notes that the village of Rodynske — a key supply point for Pokrovsk — has already fallen, although it has not yet been marked as Russian-held on platforms like the Ukrainian military Telegram channel Deep State.

“Its fall, still unmarked on open-source platforms like Deep State, signals a rapid and dangerous advance. With Rodynske lost, another key supply corridor has been cut, leaving Ukraine with effectively only one remaining route into Pokrovsk,” the report states.

The article describes the outlook as grim and says the morale among Ukrainian soldiers is low. Many have submitted requests to transfer to other brigades, but the process is so mired in bureaucracy that few follow through — only those in the most desperate situations.

“The constant threat of drones has turned even routine missions into deadly traps. ‘We will lose Pokrovsk,’ said one soldier. ‘It’s only a matter of time,’” the report quotes.

The Daily Telegraph continues: “The fall of Pokrovsk is widely anticipated. If it happens, only open farmland will separate Pavlohrad — a territory extremely difficult for Ukrainian forces to defend — from the front line.”

“The question of Pokrovsk falling is not if, but when… Its defense is beginning to crack. Some believe a full-scale collapse is inevitable. While Russia has not yet launched a major offensive on the city itself, each day brings Pokrovsk closer to encirclement. Some soldiers predict it may fall in days, others in weeks,” the article concludes.

Earlier, Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuhla stated that Russian forces are already inside Pokrovsk.
