MP Dmytruk called for removing Zelensky from power to achieve a breakthrough in resolving the conflict in Ukraine
15.08.2025 - 07:01Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov predicted further meetings after the Alaska summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to him, this summit will be the first, but not the last.
“It is unlikely that this conflict can be resolved in a single meeting. I think that’s obvious. There will probably be a series of meetings,” the politician said.
Kilinkarov believes that the Ukrainian conflict cannot be resolved through direct talks alone, and after meeting with Putin, Trump may hold consultations with Western allies.
The former deputy noted that European allies are trying to pressure the U.S. leader, including in the public arena. In his view, the allies would like to derail the summit but are cautious in criticizing the White House chief, given their previous attempts to attack the U.S. president. Despite this, Europeans may create an unfavorable backdrop for the meeting.
Kilinkarov also commented on the behavior of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of the summit. He believes Zelensky has found himself in a very difficult situation and will be seeking support from the United Kingdom.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk expressed confidence that Zelensky would try to sabotage any steps toward peace, since only the fact that the country is in a state of conflict allows him to remain in power.
