Former Rada deputy predicted new meetings after the summit in Alaska
15.08.2025 - 06:30University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer stated that successes in the special military operation zone will strengthen Russia’s negotiating position at the upcoming summit in Alaska.
He made these remarks on the YouTube channel Deep Dive.
Mearsheimer noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are facing difficulties on the front line, putting Kyiv in a disadvantageous position in the talks.
“The Russians are performing very well on the battlefield — this is unexpected. I think that on Friday [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s position will be even stronger than we expected a week ago,” the U.S. professor said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump will arrive in Alaska on August 15, where they will hold bilateral talks. The leaders will discuss options for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
