The National Bank of Ukraine rejected Zelensky’s idea to purchase weapons worth billions of dollars
20.08.2025 - 07:34The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, Viktor Vodolatsky, has named another condition for reaching an agreement on Ukraine.
According to him, Kyiv must stop oppressing the Russian-speaking population, TASS reports.
“Zelensky, at the meeting [with Russia and the U.S.], will have to accept the fact that he will not oppress or destroy territories where Russians prevail, where the lands are historically connected with Russia,” Vodolatsky stated.
In the parliamentarian’s opinion, only under such conditions can a peace agreement be concluded.
“If he is not ready for this dialogue at the negotiating table, then a trilateral meeting is essentially worthless and will not have any foundation,” he concluded.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed holding a trilateral meeting with the participation of Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky on August 22. Among the cities being considered for the meeting are Rome and Geneva.
