11.09.2025 - 05:03Political activist and Trump supporter Charlie Kirk was shot during his speech on the campus of Utah Valley University in the state of Utah.
This was reported by the media.
Kirk was wounded in the neck. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A little later, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Kirk had died.
“The great and even legendary Charlie Kirk is dead. No one understood and empathized with the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. EVERYONE loved and admired him, especially me, and now he is no longer with us. Melania and I extend our condolences to his wonderful wife Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on his network Truth Social.
31-year-old Charlie Kirk was a well-known Trump supporter and podcaster; he founded the student association Turning Point USA to promote conservative values in schools, colleges, and universities.
Kirk was shot from a distance of 100 to 200 meters. At first, local authorities stated that they had detained a suspect in the attack, but later it turned out that the shooter had not yet been caught, and only several hours after the murder FBI head Kash Patel announced that he had finally been captured.
“The person [connected with] today’s nightmarish crime that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody. We will share the details when we can,” Patel wrote on X.
U.S. President Donald Trump, after the assassination attempt, called on people to pray for Kirk.
“We all must pray for Charlie Kirk, who was shot. A great guy in every way. GOD BLESS HIM,” Trump had earlier written in his social network Truth Social.
The governor of Utah, Republican Spencer Cox, stated that this was a politically motivated killing.
“This is a black day for our state. A tragic day for our country. I want to state clearly: this is a political assassination,” Governor Cox told journalists.
Charlie Kirk was one of the most famous figures of the conservative wing in American politics and a close associate of Donald Trump.
He hosted podcasts and held political debates in the open air on university campuses across the country.
In 2012, at the age of 18, he became co-founder of the movement Turning Point USA (TPUSA) — a student organization engaged in promoting conservative ideas and values in American colleges and universities, where in recent years new leftist ideas and movements — called “liberal” in American political language — have become popular.
Turning Point USA declares that its mission is “to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government intervention.” TPUSA chapters operate in more than 850 colleges.
In addition to debates at universities, Charlie Kirk shared his thoughts with many millions of followers on social media, as well as traveled across the country, speaking at various Republican events.
TPUSA played an important role in mobilizing Trump voters last year. Charlie Kirk personally helped stir up and get tens of thousands of new voters registered in Arizona, which is believed to have allowed Trump to win in that state.
Kirk was invited to Trump’s inauguration in January of this year, and before and after that, during both of Trump’s presidential terms, he regularly visited the White House.
