There are no prerequisites for elections due to martial law and lack of funding – CEC

At present, there are no prerequisites for holding elections in Ukraine.

This was stated by Serhiy Dubovyk, Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission.

According to him, martial law remains in effect, which legally prevents elections from being held, and next year’s budget does not allocate funds for elections.

At the same time, he did not claim that elections would definitely not take place next year, even if the war ends.

Earlier, it was reported that several deputies from the Servant of the People faction unexpectedly began talking about the imminent end of the war and the possibility of elections.

For example, MP Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Committee on National Security and Defense, stated that the war is “obviously” nearing its end, as indicated by the increased activity of political forces.

In addition, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak criticized the 2026 budget, noting that more money is planned to be spent on various social programs and pre-election initiatives than on increasing payments to the military.

“This is not the budget of a country at war, but the budget of elections,” the deputy emphasized.
