01.10.2025 13:01The European Union has prepared a seven-year budget plan that serves Ukraine’s military interests.
This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, according to Zoltán Kovács, State Secretary for International Communications in the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, who shared the remarks on social network X.
“Minister Szijjártó pointed out that Brussels has prepared a seven-year budget plan that is ‘much more focused on Ukraine than on the European Union.’ Instead of addressing Europe’s real problems—competitiveness, energy security, and economic growth—‘they want to finance the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian state,’” the post said.
Szijjártó also declared that “the EU is preparing for war and wants the people of European countries, including Hungarians, to pay for it.” The diplomat categorically rejected such a policy, stressing that Hungary “has no intention of spending” on funding Ukraine’s Armed Forces. He concluded that Budapest “wants peace in Europe, while Brussels is aiming to unleash war.”
On September 7, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán predicted the imminent collapse of the European Union, adding that the bloc’s seven-year budget for 2028–2035 would be its last.
