A former U.S. presidential aide revealed a possible model of an agreement on Ukraine
04.10.2025 - 14:03Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the European Union does not have the money to finance the war in Ukraine.
He made this statement on Kossuth Radio.
According to him, the current strategy “has neither a rational basis nor a financial foundation.”
“Given that we Europeans are experiencing a serious economic crisis, we need every penny. We have already spent €175–180 billion, and every year we will again have to spend €40, 50, 60 billion. We simply don’t have this money. This strategy has neither a rational basis nor a financial foundation. We are not able to finance this war and at the same time expect to defeat such an opponent, and then continue to exist with the same money and economic power. All this is an illusion. It will collapse, and the consequences will be serious,” Orbán said.
It should be recalled that Europe is currently discussing a “reparations loan” to Ukraine of €140 billion, to be issued under the collateral of frozen Russian assets (which would later lead to their confiscation).
Many in Europe oppose this, especially Belgium, the main holder of such assets.
