06.10.2025 - 09:01In Kyiv, a man will stand trial after throwing a live grenade at a minibus during a conflict with a colleague. The incident took place on the premises of a transport company’s depot in the Darnytskyi district of the capital. Fortunately, no one was injured, though the vehicle sustained mechanical damage.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Main Department of the National Police.
According to law enforcement, at around 6 a.m. a 59-year-old driver from a private transport company threw an F-1 grenade at a minibus that was about to depart on its route. An investigative team, bomb technicians, and dog handlers arrived at the scene. The fragments of the explosive were collected, and the man was detained.
It was revealed that the suspect had previously been repeatedly prosecuted. This time, he explained his actions as an attempt to intimidate his colleague with whom he had been in a prolonged conflict.
Investigators charged him under two articles: Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism involving the use of an object specifically adapted to inflict bodily harm) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of ammunition).
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The man faces up to seven years in prison.
Earlier, media reported a case in the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, where a man threw a grenade at a taxi driver after a conflict during a ride. The driver was injured in the explosion, and the vehicle was damaged.
