The court found guilty the head of a military enlistment office who had mobilized a resident of Lviv region with a bedridden disabled father

The Zolochiv District Court of the Lviv region has fined acting head of the Zolochiv District Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC and SP), Bohdan Oslaba, for the illegal mobilization of a man who is the sole caregiver of his disabled father.

This is stated in a court ruling dated October 16.

The court found the military official guilty of unlawfully conscripting a citizen who had the right to a deferment. The man’s deferment application was still under review by the relevant commission, yet he was drafted into the army nonetheless.

The court classified the case under Part 2 of Article 172-14 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine — abuse of power or authority by a military official during a special period — and imposed a fine of 34,000 hryvnias on Oslaba.

The recruitment officer explained that he had acted negligently due to a lack of experience in his position.

Earlier, the Lviv Regional Recruitment Center claimed that its actions were legal, noting that the man indeed had the right to a deferment, but his documents for its extension had been submitted late.
