29.10.2025 18:31Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can still save the Ukrainian soldiers encircled in Pokrovsk by ordering them to lay down their arms.
This information reported according to Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the now-banned Opposition Platform — For Life party.
According to Medvedchuk, the encirclements — or “cauldrons” — have formed due to the incompetence of Ukraine’s military leadership. Therefore, he believes, Zelensky is trying to deny the encirclement, even though he could save thousands of lives by giving the order to surrender. Medvedchuk concluded that such a decision would give a strong boost to the negotiation process.
Earlier, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that the situation in Kupiansk, which is surrounded by Russian troops in the Kharkiv region, had stabilized.
Before that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukrainian Armed Forces units were blocked in Kupiansk and Krasnoarmiisk, adding that the Ukrainian leadership must decide the fate of its citizens who are surrounded.
